Club 33

The San Diego Rotary Club celebrated its 90th Anniversary on Feb 7th 2002. Chartered in 1911, the San Diego Rotary Club was the 33rd Rotary Club in the world. The club members have had a strong influence to shape the city of San Diego through servant leadership. This 10 minute video retraces the history of the club, and the ideals of Rotary.

Hole-In-One Ad

I edit digital video on my computer, using Adobe Premiere. Non-Linear Editing is great for short pieces of video with a lot of speial effects. This is a 10 second ad for the Hole-in-One contest organized by my Rotary Club. Some voice over and music was added to it and it was aired extensively on KNSD (NBC) 7/39, KUSI (UPN) 9/51 and KFMB (CBS) Channel 8, mostly during the local news, including prime time.

Rotary In Action TV Show

I am producing a new TV show about Rotary International called "Rotary In Action". The show is taped at the Del Mar TV Studio, and is co-produced by P. Martin Peters, Past District Governor of the San Diego District. There will be seven shows about different aspects of Rotary: Rotary Youth Leadership Academy, Ambassadorial Scholars, Group Study Exchange, Polio Plus, Rotary Volunteers, etc. Here is the beginning of the show with opening credits and a short summary about Rotary.

Morphing

I experimented with a few cool techniques. One is called "morphing" where a picture is morphed into another. The start and end pictures can be anything, and you can specify where some key points and lines go from start to finish. You can also use that to distort a straight picture. The "smile" special effect on my picture on my home page is done like that.

I did a Rotary trip to Malawi in May 2001. I am producing a documentary about this trip, and this is an animation video with the map of Malawi where you can see the places we have been during the trip.

Colmar

I organized a "wine and food" trip to France with friends from my Rotary Club in September 1998. I brought my video camera, and filmed the whole trip. I edited a 32 minute video for my friends. This is a 2 minute extract of this video, showing the city of Colmar, in Alsace, France. The rest of the video shows Strasbourg and other places in Alsace, the "Three Star" restaurants in Alsace (Crocodile, Buerehiesel, and Auberge de l'Ill), and a Gala Dinner at the Confrerie des Chevaliers du Tastevin, Chateau du Clos de Vougeot, Bourgogne, France. This last part won the first prize at two local contests: the San Diego Amateur Movie Club (SDAMC) contest, and the Southern California Association of Camera Clubs (SCACC) Scott Watson contest. The full length video was aired many times on Del Mar TV in Dec 2000 and Jan 2001.
